Invading the Bachelor Pad {251}

Dear Miss Dinah,

After a long morning of packing, loading, and trying to keep Pizwit from running outside...

We are ready to go!

Bubye!!!

...Hold that thought a second...the battery has died.
BIG THANKS to Jerry for coming over to jump start our car!

Stopping for a little lunch along the way. Sweet potato fries? Don't mind if I do.

For a girl who hasn't seemed to like anything at all on her head...she LOVED this crown. Each time your mamma placed it on your head you squealed with delight! I guess it made you feel like a little princess? :)

I got quite a chuckle out of this scene tonight. Daddy has been here a few days, and so the place looks a bit like a "bachelor's pad." Enough cereal boxes for many meals, and a pizza box, and some carry-out...

Progress:

I love you,

Love Letters To Daddy {250}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Tomorrow we finally get to see Daddy.

So today, we wrote him a love letter that we'll take with us.

The last few days seemed to be hard teething days, but today you seemed to be feeling MUCH better. We laughed today. A LOT. This is you acting like some sort of blue monster. You were making silly noises while holding your snack cup lid in front of your face with your teeth.

And here you are on top of me. Just horsing around.

And helping Ginni sew up your pants.

Sometimes it's hard for me to believe you are only 1 year old.
I love you,

Mamma <3

Reasons I Love Being A Stay-At-Home Mom {249}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Just a few of the many reasons I am so thankful to get to be a "stay-at-home" mom:

Getting to reconnect with with childishness and the wonder of it all, after being disconnected for so long.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. -Matthew 18:3

Getting to learn your patterns, know your every behavior, anticipate you next move. And, getting surprised half the time, of course.

Experiencing the awesome newness of every day with you.

(all apples)

Not missing the teeniest, tiniest, precious moments.

Becoming even more flexible than I thought a former dancer/gymnast could be.

(dinner prematurely eaten)

Enjoying a good night's sleep after a thoroughly fulfilling day.

(PW agrees)

I love you,

Mamma <3

Still Your Favorites: Swinging and Sliding {248}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Can you believe that I was up earlier than you this morning?
This mamma must have slept well ;)

7:30 by now and we've both been up for a while. A later sunrise due to a rainy night and the season's changing.
 Off to Ginni and Gampa's first thing this morning.
Beautiful morning for visiting grandparents and smelling flowers.

Later we went to the park because the weather was just perfect. It was warming up but still mild, and hardly windy. I was looking forward to swinging...

...which we did in a little bit drier spot :)

And of course, sliding.

See those little legs? :)
 This afternoon we made a quick trip over to the next town with Ginni to pay GGranny and GGrandad a visit. Then back home, and early to bed tonight.

We miss you, Daddy.

See you in a couple days.

My favorite moments from today:
~Special time in Mamma's bed this morning snuggling (Pizwit too)  and nursing
~Holding you in my arms this evening as you "teethed" on a carrot
~Softly tickling your toes as you fell asleep in your crib

I love you,

Mamma <3

Five Outfits {247}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Well well well...

When I went to download the photos for today's blog post, I was astonished that there were only two. I just figured I had taken many, but, I figured wrong.

With 5 outfits total today (not counting in and out of PJ's), it's a wonder I didn't take more... actually that many outfit changes is probably the reason! We were busy changing clothes all day :)

#1 because we got muddy watering the garden this morning.
#2 because of a common baby accident (ironically related to the fact this is the number two :) reason)
#3 because of a leaky sippy cup on the stroller ride
#4 ... I'm not remembering this ... perhaps there were only 3 changes and 4 outfits?

We went to Ginni and Gampa's this morning after stopping by the courthouse to pick up voter registration forms. We're changing the county we're registered in, since currently, we spent the most time here in this one. At Ginni's we swung on the swing, picked broccoli, apples and got to take home some fresh zucchini cake. Home-grown apples still make the transplant country girl a little queasy due to the very good possibility of worms. Broccoli is quite similar as far as bugs and caterpillars, but the beautiful, vibrant green color they become when cooked makes the ordeal worth it.

Oh, let me also tell you that your are cutting teeth like a champion. It seems like this must be a climax of the teeth-cutting time, just based on how they look, part in and part out of the gums. You have three: the two lower molars and the one on your upper left. Hang in there, lil mamma.

Daddy arrived at his destination this afternoon and is staying with our dear friends overnight there, before the last leg of the trip tomorrow. He's having a good time and glad to be off the rode. The new car is worth every penny, he reported. Even though there's no cruise control and the back seat doesn't fold down for storage or sleeping. He slept last night (a bit uncomfortably) in the back seat!

Here's a little sneak preview at a possible (probable) Halloween costume...

 I love you,

Mamma <3

Toothpaste Kisses {246}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Out watering this morning, we noticed some activity going on in the neighbors' yard. Looks like something exciting is being built! Don't mind our prying...

You're face is healing up so quickly, little one. This photo looks like we did a whimsical affect to it. Nope, camera was just blurry from my fingers :)

Oh, good! The puppies are awake now.

Yes, it was us causing the dogs to bark this morning...

You can see the puppies if you look to the left of the sunbeam.

Afternoon bike ride.
Rough terrain, you held on well as I pushed you along.
Pit stop for chalk drawing on Ms. Stephanie's front porch.

Varsity volleyball game in session today.
The view from the cheering section.

And some time to run about.
We even found our way to Aunt Kit's home-economics classroom.
Thanks for the samplings of biscotti! :)

Well Daddy made it to Lancaster this morning, finally. He picked up the car and is now making the long trek back. He felt MUCH better today, we are so happy about that.

Your little molars are pushing through!
Thanks for the wonderful kisses tonight.
Laughing kisses.
Toothpaste kisses.
Sweet, sweet kisses.

I love you,

Mamma <3

Still Life of Bath Toys {245}

Dear Miss Dinah,

Taking a photo to send to Daddy.

First attempt. Mirror shots are tricky.

Can we be done, Mamma?

Not-quite-choke-hold...

That'll do, Mamma...
 Daddy left early this morning, about 4:30 am to catch a plane. By the time you awoke, he had already arrived at his first destination. Unfortunately, he said he'd gotten sick on the plane - maybe it was the marigold tea! He thought it was a bug, something he ate perhaps. Anyways, his second flight ended up being delayed until much later this afternoon, which made him end up missing his final flight. We'd been praying for him all day, and were thankful to talk to him later tonight so he could let us know he was safe and headed to a hotel for the night. The airline was covering the room and meal.

Playing in the bathroom...

Lately you are up on your toes a lot...

You are now 15 months old.

You helped take this picture. I call it - Still Life of Bath Toys.
The little pink duckies are a new addition to the family, a party favor from Ms. Kenedy.

Playing with Miss Laura this afternoon.

I love you,

Mamma <3
