Saturday morning at home, slowly climbing our mountain of laundry...
This morning was Star Trek morning, getting ready for Star Trek movie night in a few days...
or is it Star Wars? :)
Anyway, Daddy was flying you around the room, calling you the Dinah-ship Enterprise and told me that you were exploring far away places and peoples, boldly going where no baby has gone before...
Next we stopped by Ginni and Gampa's where Uncle Dan and Uncle Nick were watching a football game. They were rooting against "our" team, but our team was winning ;)
It was even chillier outside today. In fact, we had to cover our tomato plants tonight! Here you are being kept warm and cozy by Daddy. You two back-seat drivers.
The difference between 12 and 18 mo. pants. I think, however, that the 12 mo. old pants might actually be capri-pants?
Tonight we made banana wafer pudding to eat after dinner, and after you had gone to bed -- but don't worry, you had a yummy dinner of chicken sausage, veggie pea soup, and breads.
But here is the recipe in case we want to try it again. It was very good, but Daddy and I think we would use less sugar next time because the cooked bananas make it very sweet already.
Banana Wafer Pudding
3/4 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 2/3 cup of milk
3 eggs, separated
3 sliced bananas
Vanilla wafers
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 2/3 cups of milk in top of double boiler. Beat 3 egg yolks, gradually stirring in hot mixture. Return to double boiler. Cook stirring often until mixture thickens. Remove from heat, add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Line bottom of 8x8 inch pans with vanilla wafers. Top with 3 sliced bananas and half of the custard; repeat layers ending with custard on top. Beat egg whites stiff; gradually add 1/4 cup of sugar. Beat until still. Pile on custard. Bake in hot oven at 425ºF. for 5 minutes until lightly brown.
